White boats – Visual Artists formed a procession of boats in the Night of Arts'/ Joen Yö 30th of August, 2007

The happening was a community art project, in which all the artists of the area had a possibility to participate. Each boat was lit differently and had its own visual imagery depending on the view of an artist. The colour of this year was yellow. The starting point was behind Pekkala Bridge, the jetty of Kurapuro. After the fall of the night the procession of the rowing boats could be seen from the shore and the two bridges that go over the River Pielinen.

This was the fourth time that the procession was organized by North Carelia Arts' Council. The idea was generated by Tiina Hallakorpi. The happening has been rich of experiences for the audience and the participants. The River Pielinen is the heart of Joensuu.
